The ongoing pandemic and quickening climate crisis make it difficult to overstate the significance of science policy our world. These global catastrophes have laid bare fragility science's legitimacy its dependence on broader cultural understandings institutional norms. Challenges are numerous daunting in early twenty-first century but also nothing new. This review interrogates as culture highly fragmented polarized social environment, idea that scientific knowledge expertise experiencing a profound accelerating crisis. challenges internal external production knowledge, emphasizing publicly financed sector colleges universities worldwide. Internal threats include fraud, replicability, diffusion equability, disciplinary fragmentation, overproduction.
